Krusa Guitars are custom built to order and are built one at a time. All materials are selected, thicknessed, braced and voiced with the players specific musical aesthetic in mind. I am comfortable building for singer songwriters, fingerstyle enthusiasts, flatpickers, chord melody jazz cats, lead players, ect..., ect...
All customers place their orders directly to me and a relationship with each customer is developed as we discuss their instruments body shape, depth, scale length, nut width & string spacing at the saddle, inlay, neck profile, and of course materials.
The customers playing style, physical stature & musical approach help me to define the instrument that will work best for them.
All of the instruments displayed on this web site were custom orders & their descriptions reflect that. I mention this because no two of my instruments are the same. I have chosen customization over production at all levels.
Some options for detailing are available on the ordering page & some material descriptions can be found on the materials page. The pace of new tonewoods on the market is astounding and I am extremely excited to build instruments with some of these emerging tonewoods. I am often asked to build with materials that I do not have on hand. I am generally hesitant to this, but exceptions are sometimes made if I have a relationship with the supplier & can be confident that the material has been cared for responsibly. The materials that I select for my clients has been in my possession for a minimum of 5 years and some over 15. Instruments built with well aged material are not only tonally superior but will outlive instruments that have been built with recently cut wood. This is not an opinion, it is a fact.
I almost always use Adirondack spruce for bracing. My bracing is still coming from a trove of split cants that I purchased in the year 2000.
There are few things on this earth that I am certain of. My relationship with and awareness of the tonal properties of the materials in my shop is one of them.
